VUB Social Entrepreneurship Fair on November 28th

VRIJE UNIVERSITEIT BRUSSEL OFFERING FREE SUPPORT TO GOOD CAUSES

With more than 40 projects and 500 attendees, the VUB prepares the biggest event in support of projects and good causes: The VUB Social Entrepreneurship Fair. The event will take place on November 28th, 18:00 in Aula QA at VUB Campus in Pleinlaan 2, Elsene 1050.  It will be the ideal space to meet and connect with hundreds of social entrepreneurs and innovators to discover how to build up a sustainable tomorrow. Everyone is welcome to participate and registration is necessary.

Melanie Matute arrived in Belgium a couple of years ago from Lima, the capital city of Peru. She started her Management studies at VUB being fully aware about her country, the political and social situation and all the challenges for her generation. During her time at VUB, Melanie had the opportunity to meet inspiring leaders, lectures and participate in different activities related to the social entrepreneurial landscape in Belgium and in Europe. This was definitely an inspiration for the next step on her career as a future Social Entrepreneur.

“The Peruvian Social Incubator”

Today, she is leading a project called “The Peruvian Social Incubator”, recently launched on the VUB Social Entrepreneurship Platform. “It has been a great opportunity to launch my idea here in Belgium through this platform, as I have received different levels of support from the University and all the community. They gave me the last push I needed to start working on my project and I am sure it will be materialized and fully operating very soon in Peru”, mentioned Melanie about her project and the VUB Platform.

Melanie with the “The Peruvian Social Incubator” and other 40 projects will be presenting their ideas during the VUB Social Entrepreneurship Fair, the biggest event of this nature organized by the VUB. Hundreds of students and social entrepreneurs are prepared to meet and connect with others, as this event brings the possibility to gather in one day a big community of people committed to support and work towards a sustainable future.  The event has also confirmed the participation of renewed speakers and practitioners in the field of social entrepreneurship in a series of testimonials.

The challenge is still here. Brussels and other cities in Belgium are surrounded by many social entrepreneurs with great innovative ideas and possible solutions for the most challenging problems of our society. Each of us can make a difference by giving them a hand and contribute their initiatives. Committed also to this great challenge, the VUB, through its Chair of Social Entrepreneurship, offers free support and coaching to those project or good causes: “We are committed to support every single project that seeks to create a positive social impact. To do so, we are consolidating an ecosystem (with people, network partners and institutions), to help those projects in the creation of a better world for tomorrow” expressed Prof. dr. Nikolay Dentchev, Chair of Social Entrepreneurship at VUB.

The VUB Chair of Social Entrepreneurship Platform: This free crowdsourcing and crowdfunding platform can be used to launch project ideas with a social impact. It offers the possibility to Social Entrepreneurs to gain more visibility, raise awareness and to strengthen the collaboration with relevant stakeholders in our community; it also opens the possibility to receive financial support through donations. We invite everyone to  visit our platform and and support all the existing projects. We want also to invite everyone interested to launch his or her own project with us. Every single effort will be supported.

Do you want to be part of the transformation? Attend the VUB Social Entrepreneurship Fair on November 28th. The event starts with a series of lectures from 18:00 to 20:00; there will be poster session, networking and drinks offered from 20:00 to 22:00.
