VUB files complaint following serious transgressive behavior
Tuesday 25 October 2022 - The Vrije Universiteit Brussel has very recently been made aware of serious transgressive behaviour that occurred in relation to the activities of a student association.
Criminal offences may have been committed. The university therefore filed a criminal complaint on Monday 24 October 2022.
At the same time, VUB has begun a disciplinary procedure against those students involved and has taken protective measures. The the named students have been banned from campus and the activities of the student association have been temporarily suspended.
VUB will provide the victims with the necessary legal and psychological assistance.
In the interests of the criminal investigation and disciplinary procedures, VUB will not be providing any further comment or information at this time.
VUB rector Jan Danckaert: “Transgressive behaviour will not be tolerated at VUB. Not now, not in the future, never again. Our YANA (You Are Not Alone) reporting point takes every complaint, and every person making a complaint, seriously. When transgressive behaviour does occur, we undertake action and provide the necessary guidance and support for victims and those reporting throughout the entire difficult process. They are not alone.”
